I have completed 30
hours for my campus-supervised internship activates to date. I have completed activates in competencies 02
in Domain I and 04, 05, and 06, in
Domain II for example: school safety, Teacher (Staff) Evacuation and
Development, Campus Culture, etc… Under
student discipline I was able to observe the principals reviewing a student
discipline history with him, and what
his future might be on the campus if he could not get his behavior under
control. The principals did a good job
of not just focusing on his bad behavior but also trying to encourage him by
talking about all the good things he had been doing also. I also was able to observe the planning of the
final exam schedule and all the considerations and conflicts you have to
navigate in developing it. One of the
most important things I got to do is make a home visit to discuss with a
student's behavior with the parent and what plans the school was making to help
him be successful.
I also completed ISTE Performance Indicators in: TF-VII-C,
TF-V-A, and TF-III-D1. I have had the
opportunity to help teachers on my campus resolve issues with their active
boards, setup computers in their classrooms, install software, and assist
students in the computer labs.
After the winter break I plan on working with one of the
lead technology teacher on campus to get more teachers who need help with
equipment and software to come in the morning or afternoon for help if
needed. Our goal is to get most of the
teachers on our campus to take advantage of all the technology and resources
the district has provided to them. I
also will be working the principals on my campus to develop an Autism staff
development for my campus in the fall.
So far I feel my internship is going ok. I am not quite where I would like to be, but I
think I have a good plan in place to get there.
I am revising my action research project at the moment. I have talked to my principal, my campus I
coach and other teachers about what program and software they are using in
their classrooms and if they are seeing any progress in their students
performances. The one thing that I have
learned so far is there is no consistency in what software or web based resources
that each classroom is using. This has
made it a challenge for me to decide what direction I want to go with for my
project. At first I was going to look at
the districts web 2.0 training and what effects it had on teachers teaching and
for the teachers that incorporated some of the tool into their classroom did it
translate into student performances gains.
But on my campus it seems that a lot of teachers are not
using much or any of these new resources.
In our lesson plans, it is required for us to show how we are using
these tools in our classroom. Each math
and language arts teacher is supposed to
have stations set up for small group instruction and incorporated technology
component in them. After talking to my principal she said they
are indicating in their lesion plans that they are using the resources in their
classroom, but when the principals visit the classroom they are not seeing them
implementing them in their groups. And
so far after looking at the date the teachers that are implementing the group
correctly in their classrooms are not show much or any gains in student
performance at this time. I have talked to my campus supervisor and she
gave me some ideas and advice that I am going to review over the winter break. After reviewing her suggestions, I will
decide I want to stick with my original plan or change it.
